Horizontal Evo is the line of horizontal Pathos reels featuring a compact, rugged design, engineered for use in spearfishing and freediving. The reel structure is made from glass-filled nylon to ensure lightness and mechanical strength, while the central axle is reinforced with a stainless steel core for long-term stability and durability.

The main body features a line-retaining cage and is equipped with a nylon roller that keeps the line in position during unspooling and rewinding, optimizing smooth operation and practicality in the water.

Easy Release Safety System

Horizontal Evo integrates the Easy Release safety system, based on an adjustable drag with a steel spring. This mechanism is designed to allow the line to unspool freely when hunting large fish or at greater depths, preventing braking that could hinder the diver’s ascent.

The reel also features a control knob located on the lower section (as on the Horizontal 40 model), allowing the drag to be easily engaged or disengaged according to operating needs.

The Pathos CORAL wetsuit is an anatomical two-piece suit for breath-hold Spearfishing, specifically designed for coral reefs and tropical seas. Made from high-density open-cell Sheico Neoprene, it offers an excellent combination of stretch, warmth, and freedom of movement. The outer lining in camo extra-stretch Lycra ensures quick drying and advanced camouflage inspired by the pattern of the Epinephelous Malabaricus (Malabar grouper).

CORAL Camouflage: Born from Nature

Pathos R&D department developed the CORAL camouflage based on the pigmentation of the Malabar grouper (Epinephelous Malabaricus), a tropical fish whose pattern adapts to virtually all types of seabed. By filtering and reworking images of its coloration, Pathos obtained three distinct camo pigmentations for different underwater environments. The CORAL camouflage is the ideal variant for reef spearfishing and for use in tropical waters, ensuring effective visual blending with the colorful, varied seabeds of warm seas.

Designed as an evolution of the Fireblade and included in the Pathos carbon range alongside the Ultimate and Supreme, the Maximum stand out for their specific flex curve, more compact longitudinal dimensions, and a blade-to-foot pocket angle engineered to deliver excellent performance even for users without an extreme training background.

Carbon Fiber Fabric

The Carbon Pro Maximum blades are made from pure 285-T4 and 285-T2 carbon fiber, a combination that ensures high strength and instant response. The selected carbon fibers, paired with top-quality epoxy resin, provide stiffness, reliability, and long service life. The outer 285-T4 4×4 weave eliminates roughness, cracking, and blade distortion by ensuring complete resin impregnation, while the inner 285-T2 2×2 weave ensures a fast blade return.

Production Process

Each pair is heat-treated for 36 hours at 8 tons of pressure for 24 hours. This process gives the Maximum carbon blades a glossy surface that minimizes friction with the water and delivers more responsive performance. The manufacturing process also minimizes carbon fabric and epoxy resin waste.

C-Curve Technology

The Maximum blades distribute the power generated by the diver’s movement along their entire length. The special internal design, based on the arrangement of the carbon fabric, allows the blades to take on a full curved C shape under pressure, ensuring the best flexibility, efficiency, and functionality. Blade return is instantaneous.

Flap-Shaped Edge

After hundreds of hours of testing different edge shapes, the Maximum flap-shaped edge not only reduces the diver’s effort, but also adds extra thrust in the final phase of the leg movement. This feature allows less power to be used compared to previous models.

Water Rails

The Maximum carbon blades are equipped with side water rails that act as elastic guides, creating a water channel that prevents the fins from drifting sideways, preserving the diver’s energy. The water rails, with a constant height of 16 mm, are positioned along the blades for a total of 27 cm and are intentionally compact so they do not interfere with the flex of the carbon fiber, keep weight down, and avoid making the kick heavier.

24° Angle and Blade Geometry

The angle between the foot pocket and the blade is 24°, a medium value that delivers good performance and makes the fin accessible without requiring extreme training. The Maximum blades measure 62 cm down the center (from the curve under the foot pocket to the tip) and 54 cm along the side, with a maximum width of 18.8 cm inside the water rails. Blade thickness ranges from 0.66 mm at the flap tip, to 0.88 mm at mid-length, up to 1.25 mm in the area in front of the foot pocket, confirming a stiffness progression that optimizes both thrust and return.

The blade tip has a convex profile for improved thrust during the final phase of the kick.

Performance

The Maximum perform exceptionally well both on the surface, where they allow fast progress without tiring the legs, and at depth, with a quick push-off from the bottom and consistent thrust. They are designed for very fast spearfishing in shallow and medium-shallow water, where immediate responsiveness and energy saving are key factors.
