Freediving Accessories

The Accessories category brings together a varied selection of products that complete and support underwater freediving activities. These items do not fall into the main equipment families such as fins, wetsuits, or masks, but they perform practical and often essential functions.

The Available selection covers two distinct but complementary areas. On one side are specific accessories for freediving and apnea training: bottom Ropes, Weight systems for the line, bottom plates, earplugs, equalization tools, and silicone caps. On the other are accessories for equipment maintenance: antifog and pretreatment products for masks, glues and cements for repairing neoprene wetsuits, donning lubricants, energy supplements specifically for freedivers, and safety kits to carry during a session.

Product Types

Bottom Ropes and line systems for freediving

Bottom Ropes are among the most technical products in this category. The Star Rope and Prorope Rope, made by Deep Blue, are lines designed to withstand the stresses typical of repeated underwater use. Available in several length options, they pair with the Mares bottom plate and the Apneautic line Weight strap, components that stabilize and weight the line in its vertical position during depth dives. These systems are used in depth training and guided freediving disciplines, where a straight descent and a stable vertical path depend on the quality and proper weighting of the Rope.

Earplugs and hearing protection

Doc's Proplugs earplugs are among the most sought-after products for frequent freedivers. Made from flexible material, they allow partial water flow while reducing pressure on the eardrum during descents. Available in multiple sizes to fit different ear shapes, they are used both in the pool and in open water by freedivers prone to irritation or who want ear protection during activity.

Equalization accessories

The Equalizing Tool C4 is a specific tool for those who want to practice and improve their equalization technique. The device allows you to simulate the movement of the cartilage and muscles involved in Frenzel-Fattah equalization, helping train the mobility needed to descend to depth without pain or blockage. It is an accessory intended for those approaching medium-to-greater depths or for anyone who wants to refine their technique out of the water.

Antifog and mask pretreatment products

This category also includes antifog, pretreatment, and cleaning products specifically for freediving masks. Absolute Cleaner C4 and Sea Buff McNett are pretreatment products to apply to the lens before first use or after deep cleaning: they remove manufacturing residues or organic deposits that promote fogging. Extreme Antifog C4 and Salvimar Antifog Spray are repeated-use products, to be applied before each dive to reduce condensation on the lens.

Glues and cements for neoprene

Neoprene glues are essential products for repairing cuts, wear, or seam separation in wetsuits. Picasso neoprene glue and Cressi cement glue are neoprene-based adhesives that provide a stable bond once applied and allowed to dry correctly, according to the times specified for each product. Salvimar cement glue is an alternative with a slightly more fluid formulation, suitable for repairs on smaller surfaces or thin joins. All these products require preventive cleaning of the surface to be bonded in order to achieve effective adhesion.

Donning lubricants

Slippy Deep Blue lubricating powder is formulated to make donning neoprene wetsuits easier by reducing friction between the material and the skin. Its use allows the wetsuit to be put on more quickly and reduces mechanical stress on the neoprene during donning, extending its lifespan. Silicone Pump McNett is a silicone spray with broader use: it can be applied to zippers, seals, and rubberized parts of masks and equipment to maintain flexibility and sealing performance over time.

Safety and signaling kits

The Deep Blue Belt Safety Kit, developed in collaboration with Best Divers, consists of a pouch to attach to the Belt, a whistle, a signal mirror, a signal light, and a torpedo buoy. This kit is designed for open-water sessions, where distance from the support boat may make it necessary to attract the attention of rescuers or buddies. The compact size of the pouch allows it to be carried during a session without bulk.

Waterproof containers and equipment protection

The Best Divers waterproof container is a rigid container with an airtight closure, designed to protect items sensitive to moisture during water sessions: smartphone, keys, documents. The perimeter gasket construction ensures watertight performance down to the usage depths specified by the manufacturer. The C4 Carbon Mask Box is instead a rigid case made specifically for transporting and protecting freediving masks, preventing deformation of the silicone skirts caused by external pressure.

Energy supplements

Dive Energy Complex Deep Blue is a powdered supplement formulated to support energy metabolism during in-water training sessions. Available in a 600-gram jar, it is intended for freedivers who carry out extended sessions and want to supplement their energy intake with a product specifically designed for underwater activity.

How to Choose Accessories

Bottom Ropes, Weight systems for the line, bottom plates, and equalization accessories are perfect for training. Glues, pretreatments, and antifog products are reliable allies for maintenance.

For maintenance products, the starting point is the type of material to be treated. Neoprene glues differ in viscosity and formula: denser versions are suitable for repairing deep cuts or detached seams on larger sections, while more fluid versions are better suited to small touch-ups on limited surfaces. For antifog products, the main distinction is between first-use products (pretreatments) and repeated-use products (sprays to apply before each dive): the two products perform different functions, and using only the spray does not replace the initial pretreatment of the lens.

Earplugs should be chosen based on ear size and frequency of use. Models with a controlled central opening allow a certain degree of natural equalization during descent, making them compatible with depth diving.

For the safety kit, the choice depends on the practice environment: in open water or in areas frequented by boats, the presence of signaling devices (buoy, whistle, mirror) increases visibility in an emergency and should be considered an integral part of session equipment.

Materials and Technical Features

The neoprene glues in this category are neoprene-adhesive-based products. Correct application involves spreading the adhesive on both surfaces to be joined, allowing a waiting time before bringing them together, and maintaining pressure during the bonding phase. Times vary from product to product and must be followed to obtain a durable repair.

The Equalizing Tool C4 uses a mechanical mechanism that simulates the resistance present during pressurization, allowing you to exercise the muscles involved in Frenzel equalization. Its compact construction makes it portable and usable independently, even out of the water.

Waterproof containers such as the Best Divers Uovo Grande Container use a perimeter rubber gasket compressed by the closure of the rigid lid: the seal depends on the integrity of this gasket and proper closure, which should be checked before each dive.

Bottom Ropes such as the Star Rope and Prorope Rope are built with multi-filament structures specifically selected to resist wear from contact with salt water and to maintain vertical tension without excessive twisting. The line Weight—made with lead elements or strap systems—must ensure the Rope remains perpendicular to the surface, a necessary condition for proper free descent training.

Conclusion

Deep Blue’s Accessories category covers a range of technical products that support freediving activity in two main ways: on one side, functional accessories for training and practice—bottom Ropes, plates, Weight straps, equalizing tools, earplugs, silicone caps—and on the other, maintenance and safety products, including antifog products, pretreatments, neoprene glues, lubricants, emergency kits, and waterproof containers.

Understanding the specific functions of each product—and the difference between complementary products such as pretreatment and antifog, or between different types of neoprene cement—allows you to build an effective accessory setup, avoiding duplicate purchases or improper use of the products themselves.
