X-Shaft Free Shaft for Pneumatic Spearguns

The X-Shaft Free shaft produced by Sigal Sub is made from high-quality Swedish Sandvik steel, heat-treated to enhance its mechanical properties of hardness, strength, and rigidity. This combination ensures an especially strong and accurate shaft, suitable for both latest-generation pneumatic spearguns and older models.

Technical Features

• “Nude” design: without line slide, washer, or tail piece (tang), with a transverse hole for attachment to monofilament or line
• Hydrodynamic improvement: no protruding elements to improve penetration and increase ballistic efficiency by up to +10% compared to traditional systems
• Floppers: made from raw AISI 316L stainless steel, recessed type, partially integrated into the shaft profile to reduce hydrodynamic drag
• Hand-modified single flopper: prevents closing after passing through the fish, improving functionality in the water

Applications and Benefits

Thanks to the structural rigidity and elastic recovery of Sandvik steel, the shaft maintains a stable, straight trajectory, minimizing vibration and shaft whip during release. The absence of a tail piece and washer, together with the transverse-hole attachment system, significantly reduces hydrodynamic drag, improving the spear’s accuracy and penetration in the water.

The recessed AISI 316L stainless steel floppers, resistant to marine corrosion, provide solid holding power without compromising smooth tracking when swinging the speargun. This construction is therefore ideal for the specific needs of spearfishing and freediving with vacuum pneumatic spearguns.
