Meandros Mitos 3 - Vertical Reel for Freediving and Spearfishing

The Meandros Mitos 3 is a large-size reel designed specifically for freediving spearfishing and freediving, featuring a vertical layout and equipped with a self-releasing drag for optimal line control.

Construction and Materials

The spool is made with a plastic shaft and two stainless steel discs lightened with ribs, ensuring a balance between rigidity and lightness. This configuration reduces weight, volume, and bulk, improving practicality during the dive.

The lightened spool also promotes faster drying of the line, preventing rot and maintaining the reel’s efficiency over time.

Design and Functionality

• The frame is secured to the spool with 3-axis spacers strategically positioned around the spool itself, preventing line tangles and ensuring smooth line payout.
• The extendable arm makes line retrieval easier, improving ease of use during spearfishing sessions.
• The line attachment system features an angled hole on the spool axis through which the line is inserted and secured with a stopper knot on a second hole in the knob-drag mechanism. This method reduces the risk of accidental loss and increases winding capacity without internal knots.

Compatibility and Installation

The reel installs easily with simple screws on the barrel of any wooden speargun, on plastic or stainless steel trigger guards, and on the plastic handles of many commercial models, ensuring broad compatibility with spearfishing gear.
