The Meandros Fire Plus is a vertical reel designed specifically for freediving and spearfishing. Despite its compact design and low weight, it provides high mechanical strength thanks to the combination of carefully selected materials.
Materials and Construction
The reel features a 316L stainless steel frame, known for its durability and corrosion resistance in marine environments, paired with a plastic shaft to reduce overall weight. The spool has diamond-shaped openings that help the line dry, preventing deterioration.
Design and Functionality
- The frame is secured to the spool with 3-axis spacers, positioned to prevent the line from tangling during dives.
- The extendable handle allows easy line retrieval, optimizing line management during underwater activity.
- The line attachment system consists of an angled drilled spool axle: the line passes through this hole and a second hole in the knob-drag assembly, where it is secured with a stopper knot. This configuration prevents accidental loss of the knob-drag assembly and keeps the spool free of knots, increasing winding capacity.
Installation
The reel mounts easily on wooden speargun stocks or on plastic or stainless steel trigger guards, as well as on plastic handles of numerous commercial models. It is attached with simple, secure screws, ensuring quick and stable installation.
