The Meandros Albatros Plus is a vertical reel designed specifically for freedive spearfishing and spearfishing. Equipped with an automatic-release drag, it ensures precise, immediate control when the line is released.

Materials and construction

The reel combines a shaft made from synthetic plastic with a 316L stainless steel frame, a marine-grade material known for its high corrosion resistance and durability in saltwater underwater environments. This combination of materials delivers a strong, lightweight, and durable structure for intensive use while freediving.

Design and functionality

• The ergonomic “Albatros bird” shape provides high rigidity while reducing overall weight, improving handling and balance on the speargun.
• The spool features a one-piece synthetic drum with snowflake-style openings, which reduce spool weight and help the line dry, preventing moisture buildup and deterioration.
• Two precisely positioned spacers around the drum prevent tangles and accidental line release during dives.
• The line attachment system is designed to ensure safety and maximum spool capacity: the line passes through an angled hole in the spool axis and is secured with a stopper knot in the drag knob, preventing internal knots and accidental loss.

Installation and compatibility

The reel can be easily mounted with simple screws on wooden barrels or trigger rails, in either plastic or stainless steel, and is compatible with many commercial plastic handles. This broad adaptability allows installation on many speargun models.
