Meandros Albatros Plus Vertical Reel
The Meandros Albatros Plus is a vertical reel equipped with an automatic release brake system, designed specifically for freediving spearfishing and spearfishing. Made with a 316L stainless steel frame and a synthetic plastic shaft, it offers an optimal balance between mechanical strength and light weight, ideal for use in marine environments.
Design and construction
The reel features a bird-shaped design that provides exceptional structural rigidity while keeping weight low. The spool, featuring bow-shaped openings, promotes ventilation and rapid drying of the line, helping prevent deterioration of the reel line caused by moisture.
Two spacers positioned around the drum are designed to prevent tangles and line overrun, ensuring the reel line is distributed neatly and safely during spearfishing.
Line attachment and mounting options
An exclusive attachment system allows the line to be anchored directly to the spool axle through an angled hole. After being inserted into the first hole, the line passes through a second hole in the knob-drag system, where it is secured with a stopper knot. This eliminates knots inside the spool and prevents accidental loss of the knob-drag, increasing the spool’s usable capacity.
The reel mounts easily on wooden speargun barrels, plastic or stainless steel trigger guards, and the plastic handles of many commercial models using simple screws, ensuring broad compatibility with the most common spearfishing equipment.
