The Black-Out Plus shaft by Hunt Technology is a professional-grade speargun shaft, developed and tested directly by the Hunt team with outstanding results. Designed to take on large game fish in both oceans and the Mediterranean, the Black-Out Plus ranks among the world’s best in construction technology, materials, and performance.

Materials and machining

The shaft is made from 17-4 PH steel, an extremely high-strength stainless alloy, supplied as ground bars certified by the steel mill. It is machined entirely using CNC numerical control, ensuring minimal tolerances, flawless straightness, and an impeccable surface finish. Each shaft is perfectly smooth and free of rough spots.

Shark fin system

• 4 total shark fins: 3 rear loading fins and 1 preload fin
• "Shark fin" positioning at 60 / 90 / 120 / 360 mm from the rear end of the shaft
• Finely beveled and perfectly finished shark fins, compatible with Dyneema and other types of wishbones
• Preload fin with 3.5 mm hole welded with a continuous bead
• Loading fin height: 4.5 mm

Tricuspid tip

The Black-Out Plus is equipped with a sharp tricuspid tip, maximizing penetration into vital areas and increasing the likelihood of effectively landing the fish. The tip is designed for powerful spearguns and works in synergy with the flopper and penetration cone.

Flopper system — Hunt Technology innovation

The flopper on the Black-Out Plus is a true non-recessed flopper, with a thickness of 1.2 mm, designed to deliver the same penetration as a traditional recessed double flopper thanks to the AISI 316 penetration cone. The cone is machined from solid stock, permanently welded to the shaft, and creates a continuous fairing that eliminates the typical “step” found on non-recessed floppers, significantly improving penetration on fish with hard scales or large bones.

• Flopper thickness: 1.2 mm, perfectly smooth and free of rough spots to preserve the fish meat
• Special high-strength 2.5 mm TIG-welded pin with lattice welding between flopper and pin, eliminating the risk of hole ovalization even under extreme loads
• Flopper locking system in the open position, welded and free of protrusions so it does not limit penetration
• Beveled and polished flopper to ensure maximum respect for the fish meat
• Same protrusion as a standard recessed double flopper

Staggered double flopper configuration

In the staggered double flopper version, two single floppers are mounted very close to each other in a staggered position on the shaft body. This system ensures total holding power: it is extremely unlikely for a fish to break free from floppers of this type, which lock open on both sides.
