The breakaway tip BIG GAME DYNEEMA SLIP-TIP is manufactured by HUNT according to design specifications dedicated to freediving spearfishing and bluewater hunting. It is an extremely accurate and durable tip, developed to meet the needs of experienced freedivers and spearfishers.
Technical features
- 9 mm diameter breakaway tip in 17-4 PH stainless steel, heat treated, with a hand-sharpened tri-cut point that is knife-sharp, designed to maximize penetration and bone-splitting performance
- Line guide ring (Slide-Ring) in AISI 316 stainless steel, angled and tumbled, Available with a hole for 3.0 mm or 3.5 mm cable
- 17-4 PH steel adapter with 9.0 or 10.0 mm diameter for a strong, long-lasting connection
- Special Dyneema cord with high mechanical strength, with a breaking load of up to 550 kilos, replaceable to ensure long-term reliability
- Connection between tip, adapter, and slide-ring via double Dyneema line, specially prepared to ensure hold and safety
- Available with Slide-Ring for 8.0 mm shafts with M7 thread, the European standard for spearfishing shafts
Operation and use
The Slip-Tip is an advanced tip designed for bluewater hunting, especially for powerful, fast pelagic species such as Wahoo. The release mechanism allows the front section of the tip to detach and then position itself crosswise inside the fish after penetration.
This configuration prevents the fish from leveraging against the shaft, reducing the risk of breakage or losing the fish. Even if the fish is not fully penetrated, the Slip-Tip offers a higher chance of landing it, locking securely into the flesh thanks to its shape and construction material.
