In the past, little importance was given to this component, with the focus mainly on the Blades. Today we know that the Foot Pocket accounts for 50% of a fin’s performance. An excellent blade paired with a poor Foot Pocket will result in a low-performance fin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFoot Pockets are now available with or without side rails. In general this can be true, but this calculation does not take into account the type of work the user needs to perform.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor example, a tall, heavy, muscular person, although physically capable of using stiffer fins, will still benefit from using soft blades when preparing for deep dives or long distances in dynamic apnea.
